- Colmados blaring bachata and merengue
- Galerias (front porches) with rocking chairs
- Roosters crowing every morning
- My neighbors helping me cook
- The good people of Bayahibe
- Sitting on the beach, watching sailboats go by at sunset
- "Saludos” to everyone (even when getting on a public bus)
- People like Sirilo who will take a whole day off to help me shop for house furnishings

- The messy but dependable transportation system (this is more of a hate/love)
